ONGOING CLASSES in Re- Education of the Body - Klein Technique as taught by Barbara Mahler
formerly of the Susan Klein and Barbara Mahler School of Dance and Movement Studies

The purpose of this class is to re-educate the dancer's body, interweaving theory and practice on a physical and organic level. From this comes the potential for students to discover a range of intelligence in their dancing, as well as to help them discover and develop their own choreographic vision. Initially inspired by the work of pioneer kinesiologist Dorothy Vislcoky, and then continuing for upwards of 20 years with Susan Klein, Barbara Mahler has learned to see, feel and teach each person/body individually to help their body function at its highest level of efficiency and function.

Barbara Mahler is a long-standing active member of the NY dance community as a choreographer, performer and teacher. Her choreography draws upon the intricate textures of time and space and the (her) body to create dances, which subtly reveal characters, emotions and stories.

Her choreography is consistent with her teaching vision and work, which is greatly informed by the teachings of Susan Klein and Fritz Smith, exploring the, endless possibilities that the body holds. It is spare and articulate.

Barbara has taught daily class for 27 years, travels extensively, creates dances, is a certified/master teacher of Klein technique and a senior teacher and practitioner of Zero Balancing, a hands on healing modality.
