Here in Gothenburg!

I am on residency with the International Dance Programme in Gothenburg.  For ten days I have/had space and time to focus and create.  I have one dancer, Janinne, whom I have been working intensely with, and 3 other phenomenal women as well. Together we have created, explored, played, studied, researched.  I have rich material from which to draw new ideas and structures for a solo and duet/trio. We will have a showing later in the week. Below is some of the written material I have used to draw dancers and students.  There was also a week of daily class in Klein Technique tm. Students were just awesome!!!!!!!!

“My choreography draws upon the intricate and infinite possibilities of the textures of time, space and the (my) body to create dances which subtly reveal non-linear stories. It is spare, and articulate, intimate and powerful.  Consistent with my teaching vision and all other aspects of my work, and research, I continue to explore the endless possibilities that the body can reveal. The essence of my work, mainly solos and small group dances, comes from a movement vocabulary and point of view developed from many years of working on and with my own body, embodying the principles I teach.    My dance training and studies have included all major modern dance techniques/styles, improvisation, and composition, as well as somatic studies.  My own truth and deepest personal investigations sit within the body of work known as Klein Technique™.
>> I am a certified teacher of and major contributor to  Klein Technique™ (a system that enhances one’s movement facility regardless of style or aesthetic). My classes draw from that experience as well as my   own research, studies and movement re-education. I an educator, choreographer and body worker; a teacher of Zero Balancing.

My project…investigations and research in movement on, and from  different body types with the aim of developing a choreographic structure to support an intimate dance for a small space.  The use of near space, the space around the body will be explored, developed and structured. Improvisation tools will be used to generate movement.  Photos, images, and different environments=i.e outside of the walls of the studio space- will also be involved in the process.
